HYDERABAD: Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, who got married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza this week, moved the Indian High Court on Thursday for return of his passport.

The counsel for Malik requested the judge for hearing on the application but the judge said it can be heard on Friday and posted the matter accordingly. Malik’s passport is in the possession of a local court.

Hyderabad Deccan police had taken away Malik’s passport on April 5 and had asked him not to leave the country after a case was registered against him over a complaint from Ayesha Siddiqui who claimed to be Malik’s first wife.

After Malik divorced Ayesha, the Siddiqui family submitted an application to Hyderabad Police to withdraw the case against the all-rounder
