NEW DELHI: Pakistani cricket star and former captain Shoaib Malik reached today at the house of his wife-to-be Sania Mirza, India’s top tennis star, Geo 436 News reported Saturday.
In a latest video captured by the local media, Shoaib was seen standing at the terrace of Sania’s bungalow situated in Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad, where he made a surprise and unexpected visit to meet his fiance.
Shoaib’s surprise visit came amidst controversy brewing between the Maliks and the Siddiquis, who claim their daughter Ayesha got married to Shoaib Malik in 2002.
Shoaib Malik was caught on camera speaking over the phone on the balcony of Sania Mirza’s residence. Shoaib, Sania Mirza and her mother are seen together at the tennis ace’s residence in Hyderabad.
Sources said that Malik, who arrived in the city last night, preponed his visit 11 days ahead of the wedding scheduled on April 15, to workout the details, even as Pakistani television reports indicated that the venue would be shifted to a neutral venue most likely Dubai.
Earlier, reports suggested that Malik’s family has been granted visas by the Indian High Commission from April 6 onwards. Reports had then said that Shoaib was expected to come to India only on April 11. However, this unexpected visit is likely to spark more controversy for the Pakistani cricketer.
Earlier, Ayesha Siddiqui, who claimed to be Malik’s wife, sent legal notice to Shoaib and his brother-in-law Imran Zafar at the addresses of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sialkot.
Talking to Geo 436 News, Barrister Farooq Hasan said Siddiqui’s family decided to file and pursue case in Pakistan against the marriage and he has been contacted for the purpose.
Under present circumstances, Sania’s family is not in favour of wedding to be held in India; instead, the ceremony would be held in Dubai in view of aggressive mood of Siddiquis. It is expected that Valima reception will also be held on the same venue, as both the families want to avoid any untoward incident.
However, the booking for April 22 at a Lahore hotel has not been cancelled as yet by the Maliks.
Sania says knows the truth
NEW DELHI: Her prospective groom is facing allegations of marrying and dumping a woman, but Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza backed Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on the matter, saying that she and her family have known the truth all along.
Although she did not mention Shoaib directly, Sania's latest twitter feed clearly supported her husband-to-be, who has been accused of cheating a Hyderabadi girl Ayesha Siddiqui after a telephonic nikah.
"Me and my family know what the truth is, we've known it all along and we have confidence in god's justice," Sania said.
The 24-year-old has been flayed by the Shiv Sena and some other right wing parties for deciding to marry the Pakistani all-rounder.
Getting ready for the "biggest day" of her life, Sania said she never thought she would have to deal with so many things apart from the regular pre-wedding jitters.
Ayesha wants official divorce

NEW DELHI: Turning the heat on Shoaib Malik before his April 15 marriage to Sania Mirza, Ayesha Siddiqui and her family today threatened to sue the Pakistani cricketer and made it clear that the unsavoury chapter will be closed only if she gets an "official divorce".
Ayesha, who claims to have married Shoaib in 2002, went the whole hog on Friday circulating copies of her 'nikahnama' to Pakistani and Indian channels where she poured her heart out on the break-up.
The marriage certificate was shown by several Pakistani television channels and apparently contained the signatures of Shoaib on the column for the groom and the name of Maha Siddiqui on the column for the bride.
"I have released this marriage certificate because Shoaib and his family have constantly been denying this marriage," Ayesha said.
28-year-old Shoaib is all set to tie the nuptial knot with 23-year-old tennis sensation Sania on April 15 in Hyderabad, which will be followed by a reception in Lahore.
"The only thing I want now is an official divorce from him, but it has to be in the open and not behind closed doors because he can always then deny it later as he has the marriage. I want to end my ordeal, I want to move on and put a stop to people asking me questions constantly about my marriage to him. Even an official ‘talaq, talaq talaq’ will do," she said.
Her father M A Siddiqui threatened to file a case against Shoaib if he went ahead with the marriage to Sania without divorcing Ayesha.
While the Siddiqui family claims Shoaib is married to their daughter and Sania would be his second wife if they go ahead with the marriage, the Pakistani cricketer and his family have constantly denied that he ever entered into any wedlock with Ayesha.
Siddiqui has threatened to sue Malik and also seek a fatwa against him from Ulemas.
Ayesha said that she had released the Nikahnama because it proved that the marriage did take place. "They are signatures of witnesses on the certificate and Shoaib sent me a copy for signature and a 'Haq Mahar' amount of Pakistani 500 rupees," she said.
She said that Shoaib had always been unhappy with her weight problems and for his sake, she had even gone and had a surgery in Delhi.
"But I am devastated the way he is constantly denying everything. I have nothing against Sania but the truth must come out," Ayesha said.
Malik-Siddiqui row enters legal twist
NEW DELHI: The controversy over Sania Mirza’s marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik gets uglier, as the Siddiquis, who claim that the cricketer married their daughter Ayesha in 2002, on Saturday sent a legal notice to the Maliks.
This legal notice was dispatched today morning and will take 48 working hours to reach the Maliks in Pakistan. The family has sent a legal notice the Maliks on the grounds of defamation, harassment, character assassination and fraud.
Sources said that plans are being undertaken to bring both the families to a discussion table to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik too turned to legal services, by hiring a Delhi-based lawyer named Ramesh Gupta, to file a defamation case against the Siddiquis.
Gupta, who has a chamber in Delhi's Patiala House court complex, is a former chairman of Bar Council of Delhi. He has appeared as defence lawyer in high-profile cases like BMW hit-and-run case and is main lawyer for Rahul Mahajan in the ongoing trial over the latter's alleged drug overdose.
While Gupta couldn't be contacted, his junior aide and advocate, Meena, confirmed that their office had received word from Malik's family in Pakistan.
"Malik's family has instructed us to pursue this case as they feel they are being defamed by the statements being made by Siddiqui and her family. My senior, Ramesh Gupta has been approached to file the defamation suit. We are closely monitoring statements emanating from Siddiqui family and will soon take action,'' she said, adding that legal grounds for slapping defamation charges are being prepared.
The newspaper has learnt that the suit is likely to be filed in Delhi itself and will seek damages for tarnishing Malik's reputation at a time when he is getting married to tennis star Sania Mirza.
Ayesha and her father have claimed before the media that Shoaib is Ayesha's legally-wedded husband. In the run up to Sania's wedding, M A Siddiqui has demanded that Shoaib formally divorce his daughter before tying the knot with the tennis star.

"I am sure the marriage will help regulate not only sporting relations but also help the people to come closer to each other and improve government to government level relations," he added.
He wished the couple the best and hoped they would continue their sporting careers and excel in them.

Shoaib may face lawsuit before Sania marriage

NEW DELHI: Ayesha Siddiqui, who claims to be Shoaib Malik's first wife has finally hit out at the cricketer, according to reports appeared in Indian media.

The Siddiqui family is said to be in a state of shock over the reports of Shoaib-Sania impending marriage in April.

Ayesha’s father, Mohammed Ahmed Siddiqui has threatened to sue Shoaib if he does not divorce his daughter. "I want divorce for my daughter.

According to Islamic law, my daughter cannot remarry if she doesn't have the divorce paper," he said in an interview to a news channel. He also said that Sania Mirza will be Shoaib's second wife.

Mohammed Ahmed Siddiqui claimed in February 2008 that Shoaib had married his daughter in June 2002 through a telephonic nikah after having an online affair.

However, Shoaib claims that he was only engaged to her and the marriage was called off because of problems between the families.

If sources are to be believed, Ayesha met Shoaib in a Dubai restaurant in 2001 along with her friend, Maha. While Ayesha is a little plump, Maha was pretty and Shoaib fell for her. On returning to Hyderabad, Ayesha, posing as Maha, started chatting with Shoaib.

Ayesha apparently fell in love with the cricketer and convinced her parents to contact his parents and arrange for a telephonic nikah.

In 2005, when the Pakistan cricket team was in Hyderabad, the Siddiquis hosted a reception for the cricket team. A website quotes a source as saying, "Shoaib became suspicious when he expressed his desire to meet Ayesha and her parents said she was out of town."

Ayesha was reportedly working as a school teacher in Dubai and apparently sent her actual photograph to Shoaib. This made the player snap all ties with her. He said the Siddiquis he had been duped.

Indian political party furious on Shoaib-Sania wedding

COIMBATORE/ TAMIL NADU: Activists of a regional political party in Coimbatore on Wednesday held a protest against the much-speculated marriage of Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza with Pakistani cricket star Shoaib Malik.

The protestors condemned Mirza's decision to marry a Pakistani cricketer and raised slogans against her, the Central Government and the Andhra Pradesh Government.

They demanded the tennis player be deported from the country. They also demanded the federal government to take back all the awards given to her.

"There have been reports that Sania Mirza will marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, which the Hindu Makkal Katchi, regional Hindu political outfit strongly condemns," said Senthil Kumar, an activist of Hindu Makkal Katchi.

"Because we feel that the cricket player basically belongs to a country, which aids and abets terrorism against India. It is still to handover the Mumbai attack accused to India. Moreover, this is an insult to 100 crore Indian people and Muslims living in India," he added.

"We also demand that the highest awards such as Padma Shri should be taken back from her immediately and we want to deport her from India."

The 23-year-old tennis player was the first Indian to win a WTA tour event in 2005 and reached her highest world ranking of 27 two years ago although she has since slipped to the 92nd spot.
Malik, 28, has been fighting a 12-month ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board for poor performance and indiscipline.
